Sea-Monkeys® In Motion Tricks and Athletics

Sea-Monkeys® may not be trainable like dogs, but their natural instincts can make it look like they’re performing tricks. These little critters are naturally attracted to light. By using a bright LED penlight, you can shine it inside their aquarium and watch as they all gravitate toward the light. By slowly moving the light around the tank, the Sea-Monkeys® will follow it as if on command.

Harold von Braunhut, the creator of Sea-Monkeys®, observed that brine shrimp naturally swim against the current, much like spawning salmon. By introducing moving water to their habitat, you can watch them swim against the current. This intriguing behavior inspired Harold to create a Sea-Monkey® racing game in the 1970s. This game allowed people to race alongside their Sea-Monkeys® or to pit their most robust pets against one another in a race to the finish line. This clever use of natural instinctsis a perfect example of how Harold combined education and an appreciation for living creatures into an entertaining toy for children of all ages.
